John Gontarz, PhD – “the tartar chemist” is the inventor of the patented TartarEnd® plaque and tartar removal technology. He has presented his research on tartar and plaque removal at American Chemical Society National Meetings and seminars and holds U.S., Canadian, European, and UK patents focused on tartar removal and oral health innovation.
John Gontarz who holds a PhD in Organic Chemistry and has 30 years of experience developing ingredients for cosmetic and personal care products, turned his expertise towards oral care after retiring. Motivated by his personal battle with tartar, plaque buildup, and periodontal disease and 3-month cleaning appointments, John developed a toothpaste to remove tartar and reverse periodontal disease, impressing his dentist with his results. This led to the creation of TartarEnd LLC in 2016. He is now on a routine six-month cleaning schedule with clean teeth and healthy gums.
