Foaming agents do not improve the cleaning abilities of toothpaste. TartarEnd was developed to work best without foam. 

US, Canada, and International Customers

TartarEnd® is shipped daily from our fulfillment center in Pennsylvania by USPS First Class Domestic and First-Class International mail to our US, Canada, and International customers. Orders received before 2:00 PM EST are shipped the same day, Monday through Friday. The progress of domestic and international shipments can be tracked by entering the USPS tracking number on the USPS tracking website.  The USPS tracking number is sent to each customer when the order label is prepared for shipment.

TartarEnd® Toothpaste is available in two flavors. The original flavor is mild wintergreen for customers who do not want much flavor in their toothpaste. A newly introduced flavor called “Minty Wintergreen” is for those who want a full wintergreen flavor in their toothpaste.

TartarEnd® was initially developed as a mouthwash and does not need abrasives to remove tartar and plaque. TartarEnd® was formulated into a paste to make it easy to apply to a toothbrush.  TartarEnd® uses saliva to liquefy and spread its ingredients so they can penetrate, dissolve, and soften tartar while the vibrations of an advanced sonic toothbrush remove tartar and plaque.

Sonic toothbrushes use two types of cleaning actions.

  1. Mechanical scrubbing – This is like other kinds of toothbrushes and depends on how far the brush head travels on each stroke as it makes contact with tooth enamel. This side-to-side brush travel distance of sonic toothbrushes is called amplitude. 
  2. Fluid Dynamics – Fluid dynamics is the process where the vibrations of the toothbrush bristles vigorously agitate and drive fluids such as TartarEnd® and saliva beyond the tips of the bristles. A high-amplitude sonic toothbrush head, vibrating at 30,000 vibrations per minute, will drive fluids further between the teeth and below the gumline than a low-amplitude sonic toothbrush vibrating at the same speed. Fluid dynamics have been shown to clean tooth enamel well beyond the tips of the brush head bristles.

Amplitude is not normally listed as a specification for sonic toothbrushes. Toothbrush manufacturers normally list vibrations per minute but not amplitude. TartarEnd LLC has studied numerous toothbrushes vibrating about 30,000 vibrations per minute, and we find that a simple test in a glass of water is a good method of visualizing amplitude. The video on the oral care tab of the website shows an inexpensive sonic toothbrush with high amplitude. This video shows a Philips Sonicare Series 4100 toothbrush fitted with a compact brush-head set at its high speed setting.

The tartar and plaque dissolving and removing abilities of TartarEnd® toothpaste show the importance of non-contact fluid dynamics of high amplitude sonic toothbrushes. 

Some sonic toothbrushes fitted with compact or children-sized medium nylon bristles vibrating at or above 30,000 vibrations per minute work very well with TartarEnd® to remove tartar and plaque above and below the gum line.

TartarEnd LLC does not have financial or marketing relationships with toothbrush manufacturers. Our testing, backed by customer experiences, suggests the Philips Sonicare Series 4100 at its high-speed setting is a very good and relatively inexpensive choice for removing tartar and plaque when using TartarEnd toothpaste.

TartarEnd LLC recommends brushing twice a day with the 2 minute brushing cycles of high amplitude sonic toothbrushes for heavy tartar producers and/or removal of tartar and plaque from deep gum pockets.

Yes, TartarEnd toothpaste has been shown to remove pre-existing tartar when used twice daily with a high-amplitude sonic toothbrush. If you start using TartarEnd® within a few weeks to a few months after your last hygiene appointment, you may have trace levels or no tartar at your next appointment.

If you have built up tartar for six months or more before starting to use TartarEnd®, it may take months to remove most or all of it.  New layers of tartar form each day you use ordinary or other tartar-control toothpaste. Thus, in six months, there could be 180 layers. TartarEnd® will remove a few layers of tartar each time you use it. It will also loosen the bond between tartar and tooth enamel. Some users report chunks of tartar breaking free for tooth enamel while brushing or flossing.  

To better understand how TartarEnd® works, imagine removing 30 layers of paint from a piece of wood. An excellent paint remover will soften and remove a few layers of paint each time you apply paint remover and scrub away the softened paint. Each time you reapply the paint remover newly exposed layers of paint will be softened and removed. Soon, you will see the bare wood surface. TartarEnd® toothpaste works in a similar manner, but it dissolves and softens tartar and plaque so they can be removed with a high-amplitude sonic toothbrush. 

Tartar can be off-white, yellow, green, brown, or black. As TartarEnd® toothpaste removes surface tartar, oftentimes the darker tartar below the surface tartar begins to appear but is soon removed with additional brushing.

  1. Your lower front teeth will quickly change from feeling rough against the tongue to feeling smooth.
  2. THIN Stim-U-Dents (wooden plaque removers ) will pass further between the teeth.
  3. Gums will stop bleeding, and gum sensitivity will lessen or disappear. 
  4. At the next hygiene appointment, your tooth enamel will be clean, and your gums will not bleed. Any remaining trace levels of tartar will be soft and easy to remove.

Flossing after using TartarEnd® is strongly recommended. Tartar is rock hard before TartarEnd® dissolves and softens it. Flossing after brushing removes additional soft tartar in harder-to-reach places between their teeth.

Water flossing after brushing with TartarEnd® works well and is preferred by some customers.

Bacteria in plaque and tartar form strong acids that erode tooth enamel and cause cavities. Fluoride changes the chemical composition of tooth enamel to make it more resistant to acid erosion and cavity formation.

TartarEnd® toothpaste removes tartar and plaque and neutralizes the strong acids at the tooth surfaces and gum pockets. People who use TartarEnd toothpaste twice each day normally have teeth that are free of tartar and plaque and high levels of strong acids.

You can use fluoride toothpaste or mouthwash along with TartarEnd® toothpaste. We do not recommend using fluoride products that contain ingredients that are known to cause gum irritations, such as meta-, pyro- or poly-phosphates,  SLS,  parabens, peroxides,  cinnamon flavorings, and other known gum irritants. 

TartarEnd® toothpaste does not contain any colorants, preservatives, or artificial sweeteners.

Disodium Phosphate is not harmful and is used in TartarEnd® to balance pH. Disodium phosphate is found in many foods. TartarEnd® toothpaste contains no metaphosphates, pyrophosphates or polyphosphates, which can cause gum irritations.

TartarEnd toothpaste has a slightly basic pH of 8.8, which neutralizes the strong acids produced by bacteria.

RDA is a method of measuring the erosion of tooth enamel by abrasives in toothpaste TartarEnd® toothpaste does not need abrasives to remove tartar and plaque. TartarEnd uses hydrated silica to form a paste so it can be applied to a toothbrush. It is considered a low-abrasive toothpaste with an RDA below 60. The RDA of TartarEnd® is similar to that found in children’s and sensitive teeth toothpastes.

TartarEnd® toothpaste has been in use since 2016. It is enamel-safe and safe with retainers, bridges, crowns, posts, veneers, fillings, and other dental appliances.

TartarEnd Toothpaste
